My stay at Sportsmen's Lodge was a mix of highlights and disappointments. The pool area was vibrant and enjoyable, and I appreciated the good location near Universal Studios. However, the noise from the thin walls and the condition of the rooms left much to be desired. Overall, I had a few nice moments, but I probably wouldn't return.
Rooms
5.0
The rooms had a modern look but were in dire need of repairs. Notably, things like broken toilet paper holders and issues with the air conditioning marred my experience. The noise from neighboring rooms kept me on edge, as I could hear everything—quite frustrating! (I think a little soundproofing could go a long way.)
Service
5.0
I encountered some inconsistencies with service during my stay. While some staff were friendly and helpful, others showed a lack of care (like when I had a frustrating experience at the front desk). Management really needs to focus on training staff to ensure a consistently high level of service.
Location
5.0
The hotel's location was definitely a plus, as it was conveniently close to restaurants and attractions, including Universal Studios. The beautiful landscaping with palm trees contributed to a nice atmosphere. However, the exterior lighting was poor, making the area feel a bit unsafe during night walks.
Dining
5.0
Dining at the Palm Cafe was rather average. While the options were reasonable, I found the prices a bit steep for what was offered, and even my breakfast order arrived incomplete. I expected more given the hotel setting.
Facilities
5.0
The pool area was a highlight, offering a lively and inviting atmosphere. But, the lack of amenities like a fridge in the room was disappointing, and the single luggage cart was quite inadequate for a hotel of this size.

I had a mixed experience at the Sportsmen's Lodge Hotel. The pool area was a vibrant highlight with great atmosphere and music, but I had issues with noise in my room due to proximity to the pool. The customer service was excellent, as they quickly addressed maintenance issues, but the state of some facilities left much to be desired.
Rooms
6.0
The room was spacious and clean, but I encountered noise issues because of the poolside activities. The bathroom had some mold, and one light wasn't working, although they fixed it promptly.
Service
8.0
The staff were very nice and attentive. I appreciated their quick response to my maintenance requests, but there were issues regarding clarity on deposits and fees.
Location
7.0
The location was convenient for exploring Studio City and getting to nearby attractions, though it was a longer walk to the CBS studio than I anticipated.
Dining
6.0
I had a decent meal at the restaurant, but I found the in-room coffee terrible, and the ice service was helpful during my stay.
Facilities
5.0
The pool was lively and a great feature, but with ongoing construction, it felt like some of the facilities were not up to standard. Facilities like a fridge or microwave were missing in the room.

I had a decent stay at the Sportsmen's Lodge Hotel. The lobby really stood out with its cool decor, and the quick check-in made getting settled a breeze. However, I found some cleanliness issues in my room and a bit of a creepy vibe in the hallways. The shuttle to Universal Studios was super convenient, but there were some service inconsistencies that left me a bit frustrated.
Rooms
6.0
The room was clean overall, but I did find a random sock and noticed some paint chips on the walls. The balcony view was not great either, blocked by trees.
Service
5.0
Some staff were really friendly and helpful, especially when I needed assistance with the shuttle, but I encountered a few rude moments at the front desk.
Location
6.0
Location-wise, it was okay for accessing Universal Studios, but the surrounding area doesn't offer much. There's a Starbucks across the street which is a plus.
Dining
7.0
The breakfast at the Patio Cafe was quick and tasty, but I wouldn't count on the River Rock Lounge for late-night snacks since they close early.
Facilities
5.0
The hotel had a free shuttle service to Universal, but the pool was under construction during my stay, which was disappointing. Also, I wasn't thrilled about the facility fee with limited amenities available.

I had mixed feelings about my stay at Sportsmen's Lodge Hotel. While the staff provided really good service and the location was convenient, particularly for visiting Universal Studios, the overall state of the hotel left much to be desired. The pool was under construction, and my room felt quite dated, contributing to an overall disappointing experience.
Rooms
6.0
My room felt empty and minimally furnished, and I noticed some peeling paint. The bathroom's tile and grout looked old and dirty, which was disappointing. There was also no fridge or microwave, which I would have expected at this price.
Service
7.0
The staff were friendly and attentive, which really made me feel welcomed. However, I found the reception staff to be quite mechanical and unwelcoming, which was disappointing given the otherwise good service I experienced.
Location
7.0
The hotel is conveniently located near restaurants and shops, making it easy to explore the area. However, the grounds appeared neglected, with cracked cement and peeling paint, which didn't feel welcoming as a guest.
Dining
5.0
The dining options on-site were decent, but I found some aspects overpriced. For instance, the breakfast service wasn’t great; the butter was frozen and the syrup was cold, which didn't enhance my morning experience.
Facilities
6.0
The pool area was lively and I appreciated the shuttle service to Universal Studios, which was efficient. However, with the pool under construction, I missed out on enjoying that aspect during my visit.

I had a mix of experiences at the Sportsmen's Lodge. while I appreciated the hotel's vintage charm and cozy restaurant, my stay was marred by cleanliness issues and noise disturbances from neighboring rooms. The vibrant pool area was a highlight, but I found some maintenance problems that affected my comfort.
Rooms
5.0
My room had several issues, from grime in the bathroom vent to broken furniture. the thin walls made for a less than relaxing experience, as I could hear everything from the next room. Although I enjoyed the vintage vibes, I expected better maintenance and cleanliness.
Service
6.0
I found the staff to be friendly and accommodating. they really tried to help with any issues I had, but their efforts couldn’t completely make up for the room’s problems.
Location
8.0
The hotel is conveniently located near plenty of restaurants and shops. I liked the quiet corner of the Valley, it felt safe and was handy for exploring nearby attractions.
Dining
6.0
I enjoyed breakfast at the Palm Cafe, but it was pretty average. the service was a bit slow and they overlooked part of my order. Still, the on-site dining options were decent enough.
Facilities
5.0
The pool area creates a lively atmosphere, especially during the day. but the broken elevator and inconsistent ice machines made things a bit inconvenient at times.
